NO, YOU DON'T NEED TO WEAR MAKEUP TO THERAPY

Something that continues to surprise me as a Tele-Health therapist is that clients consistently apologize to me about their appearance during their sessions. Women that I have seen in therapy for a year or more still apologize about their hair, their makeup, and if they are not showing up for each session refreshed and ready to go.

Yet here on the other side of the screen I wear no make-up and I am in yoga pants (or joggers) every single day. I wear hoodies. I wear slippers. You will NEVER catch me in makeup.

The most important part of seeing a therapist online is that you get to be your most comfortable version of you.

I get to be my most comfortable version of me.

When we are both the most comfortable, that creates a safe space for growth and connection.

You should never apologize for being you. Especially don't apologize for being you in therapy.
