IT"S ALL ABOUT PERSPECTIVE

One of the most valuabele parts of starting and maintaining counseling or talk-therapy is that you not only have a place to discuss past trauma, current stressors, or to battle against mental health symptoms. Therapy is alos an excellent, supportive environment to recieve feedback. Your therapist may be more or less comfortable with giving specific instructions, but this is much to do about the therapist's overall style.  If you find yourself battling with day to day concerns or even with making a big life or career decision, you may find therapy is a great option. Your therapist can help you weigh pro's and con's and can also help you to see all sides of this decision.  Additionally your therapist may have insight into parts of your personality that may cause either red flags or boundaries.

Using your therapist as a launching point for life changes may allow that additional perspective that you can't get from friends or family. So, please ask your therapist for advice and feedback. At the minimum, therapy focuses on YOU. So discuss your opportunities, your salary, and anything else that may benefit from a bit of confidentiality.
